What is the Legacy Courtyard?

The Legacy Courtyard is our way of thanking you for helping close the gap on funding the Deep Roots Campaign.

By giving to The Deep Roots Campaign, you join a larger story that testifies to God’s faithfulness for generations. The names of those who have given $500 or more will be included on the courtyard pillars. Those pillars will be a daily reminder to The Oaks community that this kingdom work is supported by a great cloud of witnesses.

What is The Legacy Courtyard?

As you approach the new Oaks building, you’ll be welcomed by a beautiful space that not only fosters good conversation, it also carries symbolic meaning.

The courtyard will be constructed in the shape of an oak tree; we are, after all, The Oaks. At the center of the tree’s canopy you will find a symbol long associated with the church, called the Chi Rho (pronounced Ky-ro).

Our hope is that this tree and this symbol can be seen by those flying over Spokane Valley, but our more important hope is that the Legacy Courtyard serves as a pedagogical tool to remind us and our children of our great heritage.

Why the Name "Legacy?"

Legacy is at the heart of classical Christian education. That’s one reason why The Oaks is dedicated to giving the next generation the ideas, stories, and discoveries that have shaped western civilization. But legacy is also central to the Christian faith. Hebrews 12:1 refers to that Christian heritage when it says we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.

The Legacy Courtyard highlights generational kingdom work and our place in it.

Join us in closing the gap on the Deep Roots Campaign. This is about more than buying a brick to place in a sidewalk, it’s about adding your name to the list of people who have left a legacy. The work happening at The Oaks is generational kingdom work. We’re grateful that you are a part of it.
